Well, to tell you the truth, we received that accolade several years ago. But we still believe it’s true and many of our customers share that sentiment. In fact, we feel it rings true more today than when the award was originally bestowed upon us. But it raises the question, what makes one wine shop better than the next? The most obvious criteria would be selection and price. But we think it goes way beyond that. It’s the staff. It’s the people with their drive and spirit that bring selection and pricing to life. It’s the people that animate wine. At WHWC, our goal is to make wine an inspiring and important part of everyday life. It’s how we feel about wine, it’s how it applies to our lives on an everyday basis that we want to share with you.

Probably the single most fascinating aspect of wine is that it’s interdisciplinary: Where else do geology, geography, biology, chemistry, topography and meteorology meet culture, tradition, history, travel, language, and ultimately, the five senses? Our staff has come from all over the country to pursue careers at Woodland Hills Wine Company; in fact many of us left careers in other industries to commit ourselves to our passion for wine. As students of wine, we are continuously awed by the power it has to surprise and delight, to disappoint or transport. Where does the passion come from and where does it lead us? That’s what we hope to explore and express with our articles, reviews, and op-eds here on the WHWC blog.
