A Sparkling Valentine’s

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. And for this special occasion, discriminating palates demand rosé. Among wine drinkers who know their Champagne, rosés are considered the crème de la crème. Classic rosé Champagne tends to be richer and fuller than its golden counterpart. Luxuriously creamy, the wine’s delicious berry flavor explodes in the mouth, then lingers endlessly on the palate. It’s power meets elegance. They can be a bit more expensive than golden Champagnes, a reflection of the fact that they are more difficult to produce, and they’re far more rare. But for a limited time only, we want to make this luxurious gem available to all our subscribers for an exceptionally low price–in fact, the best price in the country!Boutique producer Père & Fils is located in the village of Verzenay on the slopes of the Montagne de Reims. They’ve been making wines from their Grand Cru vineyards since the 1930s. Their 11 hectares of land are comprised of a mosaic of 80 parcels of some of the finest land in the region. Proud to produce an independent Champagne from such prestigious vineyards, the producers of Champagne Godmé interpret their terriorcarefully. This singular synergy of elements yields an incredibly special, limited production Champagne.Special Email Subscriber Offer:For this special occasion, we’re offering this wine at 40% off the regular list price (33% off our regularly low price). 92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): “The new release of the Godmé Père et Fils Brut Rosé is another classic in the making from this consistently excellent house located in the grand cru village of Verzenay on the Montagne de Reims. The wine is made up of a blend of eighty-five percent pinot noir and fifteen percent chardonnay, with a touch of red wine added back into the blend to give the rosé its delicate salmon color. The bouquet is a complex and snappy blend of orange, sweet cranberry, a touch of smokiness, a beautiful base of soil, sourdough bread and a distinct topnote of caraway seed. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and racy, with very refined mousse, bright acids, a lovely core of fruit and outstanding length and grip on the very long and low fat finish.”

Castano Hecula Monastrell Yecla 2008 A perennial “Best Buy” from both the Wine Advocate and International Wine Cellar just got a whole lot cheaper. An importer close out, WHWC was able to secure an allocation of the 2008 Castano Hecula Monastrell at a knock-out price. 8 of the last 9 vintages have scored 90 to 91 points by the Wine Advocate. This wine was already a big mover at its normal price but at 40% off we figure it will fly out the door within a day. Stephen Tanzer of International Wine Cellarhad this to say about the wine: “This could be a Bandol. Is the average buyer at this price point ready for this? Another amazing value.”The wine is 100% Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre). The vineyards are old vine and the farming is both organic and sustainable. Robert Parker of the Wine Advocateonce called it “possibly the world’s greatest single wine bargain.” This price break is a one-time deal. Secure your bottles while quantities last.
